Plain black leather, scuffed at hinges and edges. Personalized in gold at bottom corner of front board: Howard C. Naffziger. Pale blue end papers, browned at edges. Tipped in at front (now detached along with first blank) are two vellum leaves: 1) a dedication leaf to Naffziger with beautiful arboreal scene including a monk handing a skull to another, and 2) Greetings to Naffziger with 44 original signatures from faculty and friends. Naffziger was highly esteemed in the field of neurosurgery and was a prominent figure particularly in California.
