Two volumes in original tree calf with red and black labels on spines. Mild scuffing. Small in spatter stains on bottoms of textblocks. Single focus of worming on bottom of vol 2 textblock. Front hinge of vol 1 beginning to crack outside; rear hinge of vol 2 cracked inside. Two book plates on front pastedowns (John R Stuart and James Tait Goodrich). 19th century penciled inscriptions and notes on blanks. Small printed pharmaceutical ephemera tucked loose in vol 1. One leaf starting in vol 1. Moderate foxing and toning. Bibliographic note loose in vol 1.
