Original brown leather with focal chipping and short cracks at heads of hinges. Leather a bit scuffed. Corners bumped and chipped. Red speckled page edges. Internal hinges cracking. Small staining at gutter of title. Minimal foxing. Clean, bright, and tight throughout.

 

See Heirs 625-627: “William Buchan (1729-1805)…a native of Scotland, practiced in Yorkshire for a time and later tught at Edinburgh where he had receive dhis medical degree in 1761.” He had a large practice in London after 1778. His Domestic Medicine went through 19 editions in the author’s lifetime and was published into the mid 19th century. It was translated into numerous languages and was even more popular in Europe and America than it was in Scotland. The Empress of Russia awarded the author a gold metal and letter of commendation for the work.
